Changing your mindset is the first step to Peace of Mind Parenting. It is most crucial because it the foundation for all other steps. Your mindset is the cornerstone of awareness, consciousness, readiness and new beginnings. Your mindset affects your thinking patterns and your thinking is reflected in your actions. Status quo is not working for you? You can change! The following seven tips will get you started…
1. Become aware.
Awareness is the KEY! You cannot change what you do not acknowledge.
2. Discover what YOU want.
Focus on YOU first and then, with a “filled cup,” you will be able to take care of others. This is NOT selfish. It is a critical step in self care and becoming whole.
3. Look up.
You can choose a downward spiral of negative thoughts (anger, frustration, denial, bitterness, etc.) or a positive, upward spiral of love, peace, joy, acceptance, compassion, understanding, etc. The choice is yours.
4. Ready yourself for behavioral change.
If you aren’t ready, behavior change can’t occur. Readiness will propel you forward to reach your realistic intentions, goals and action steps. Readiness equals success in behavior change.
5. Commit to change.
Commitment is needed in order to move forward. Behavior change takes at least six weeks.
6. Examine fears that hold you back.
Your ability to see and know patterns will lead to resolutions.
7. Identify and set intentions.
Making different choices gives rise to wisdom, discipline, love and surrender.
